Margin and markup are related but different concepts:

Gross and net margins measure profitability at different levels:

• Gross margin only considers direct costs (cost of goods sold) and is calculated from selling price minus direct costs
• Net margin includes all expenses (operating costs, taxes, interest) and represents final profitability
